The bidding system

The person who minds it the least wins

Every household has chores no one wants to do, but some people dislike them less than others. When a chore needs doing, everyone bids the number of points they would accept to take it on. Do not mind scrubbing the bathroom? Bid low. Hate cooking? Bid high. The lowest bidder gets the task and earns those points. Over time, chores shift to the people who resent them least, and everyone is compensated fairly.

Built-in fairness

What happens over time?

People find their groove

Alice bids low on cleaning and keeps winning it. Bob wins the cooking. Clara takes the yard. No arguments. Everyone ends up doing what they do not mind.

Someone slacks off

Clara has been "busy" and has not done much. Her points fall behind while Alice and Bob pull ahead. The scoreboard makes it obvious to everyone.

The app steps in

Octidy lowers the maximum bid for Clara based on the gap. She cannot dodge tasks anymore and starts winning chores she would normally avoid.

Balance is restored

Once Clara catches up, her bidding range opens back up. She goes back to winning the chores she prefers. Fair effort, no nagging required.

Octidy is designed for households where everyone can contribute roughly equally. If one person is going through a tough stretch, such as illness, injury, or heavy workload, consider pausing until things settle. It is a fairness tool, not a pressure tool.
