Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Octidy collects, uses, stores, and shares data across two separate surfaces: the Octidy Android app and the Octidy website.
1. Who We Are
Octidy is the developer and operator of the Octidy app and website. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@octidy.com.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- The Octidy Android app distributed through Google Play.
- The Octidy website available at octidy.com.
3. Android App Overview
The Android app is the primary product surface for household collaboration. It provides account sign-in, house membership management, task creation, bidding, assignment, reminders, and completion history.
4. Android App Data We Collect
- Account data: email address, authentication provider details, and Firebase Auth user ID.
- Profile data: username, optional photo/avatar URL, and user preferences.
- Collaboration data: houses, members, invite codes, admin roles, divisions, default task templates, per-member default task values, tasks, bids, assignments, reminders, and completion history.
- Diagnostics and product data: crash diagnostics and app analytics/performance signals, including screen views and product events such as sign-in, sign-up, space creation/join/deletion, task creation/bidding/completion, invite interactions, defaults management, and notification preference changes.
- Advertising data: ad request and ad interaction data related to Google Mobile Ads (AdMob).
- Local app data: on-device cache and app preferences (for example theme and ad-display preference).
5. Android App: How We Use Data
- Provide core app functionality: sign-in, house membership, task creation, bidding, assignment, reminders, and completion.
- Calculate outcomes, including assignment and reward logic.
- Operate background reminder/deadline checks and local notifications.
- Maintain reliability and security through diagnostics, crash reporting, and abuse prevention.
- Measure product performance and usage trends to improve the app.
- Serve and manage ads in supported app surfaces.
- Respond to support, privacy, and legal requests.
6. Android App Sharing and Processors
We do not sell personal or sensitive user data.
For the Android app, we share data only as needed to provide the service, comply with law, or protect the platform:
- Within your house: house/member/task data is visible to house members. Per-member default task values are intentionally visible to members for transparent reward calculations.
- Service providers/processors: Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics), Google Mobile Ads (AdMob), and Google Identity/Credential Manager.
- User-provided avatar URLs: if you add an external photo URL, your device may request that image directly from the host of that URL.
- Legal and safety: we may disclose data when required by law, to enforce terms, or to protect users and service integrity.
- Corporate transaction: data may be transferred in a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer with appropriate notice where required.
7. Android App Permissions and Device Access
The Android app currently declares and uses:
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: to post task reminders and bidding/assignment notifications.
- INTERNET: to communicate with Firebase and ad services.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: to understand network availability for sync and reliability behavior.
The app does not currently request broad sensitive permissions such as location, contacts, SMS/call log, microphone, camera capture, broad photo/video/media access, all-files access, package visibility, body sensors, Health Connect, VPN service permissions, or related high-risk permission groups.
8. Android App Background Processing and Notifications
The app runs scheduled background work (WorkManager) to evaluate reminders, deadlines, and recurring maintenance tasks, then posts local notifications when appropriate. No background location, contacts, SMS, or call log collection is performed.
9. Android App Security
- Data in transit is protected using modern transport security (HTTPS/TLS).
- App collaboration data is stored in Firebase services with Firestore security rules enforcing access boundaries.
- Sensitive account operations (for example account deletion) require reauthentication in-app.
No system can guarantee absolute security, but we continuously improve technical and operational safeguards.
10. Android App Retention and Deletion
- We keep account and collaboration data while your account and houses remain active.
- If you request account deletion, we process deletion within 30 days.
- We may retain limited data longer where required for legal compliance, fraud/security prevention, dispute handling, or legitimate operational records.
The app includes in-app account deletion. Before in-app deletion, you must first leave or delete all houses and reauthenticate your account.
You can request account deletion outside the app through our public deletion page: Delete Account.
You can request deletion of specific data without deleting your account through: Delete Data.
11. Website Overview
The website is an informational and support surface (marketing pages, legal pages, contact links, and account deletion guidance). Core household collaboration actions happen in the Android app.
12. Website Data and Storage
- Essential preference storage: theme, language preference, and consent preferences stored in local storage.
- No website account creation flow: the website does not currently provide direct web account registration/login flows for the app service.
- Contact actions: website contact/deletion routes currently use email links; submitted data is handled by your email provider and our support workflows.
13. Website Analytics, Cookies, and Consent
The website uses consent-aware loading for optional analytics and advertising categories.
- In consent-required regions (including EEA, UK, and Switzerland), optional categories remain off until you opt in.
- Outside consent-required regions, website analytics may be enabled by default. You can change this at any time in Cookie settings in the footer.
- Optional website analytics technologies may include Cloudflare Web Analytics and Google Analytics (GA4) when configured.
- The website does not currently enable website advertising tags by default.
14. Your Choices
- Android app: manage profile fields and app preferences in User Settings; manage notification permissions in Android settings; review Google privacy options there when they are available for your region.
- Account deletion: request deletion in-app or through the web deletion resource.
- Website: review and update analytics/ads preferences from Cookie settings in the footer.
- Contact: privacy inquiries can be sent to privacy@octidy.com.
15. Privacy for Children
Octidy is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us to request deletion.
16. International Processing
If you use Octidy outside your country of residence, your data may be processed in countries where our infrastructure or processors operate, subject to applicable law.
17. Changes
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
